StateOvertime.com was created to help American workers understand and calculate their overtime pay accurately. Overtime rules can vary by state, making it confusing to understand what you're owed. Our free calculator makes it simple.
Why We Built This
US workers can lose money when they don't fully understand overtime laws. California has daily overtime rules. Alaska and Nevada have their own daily OT triggers. Federal FLSA rules provide the nationwide starting point. We wanted one tool that handles these variations accurately.

State Overtime is independently researched and maintained as a free resource for workers who want a clearer picture of their overtime pay.
How information is reviewed
State guides are checked against the U.S. Department of Labor and the labor department, statute or wage order for that state. Official government material is prioritized over summaries from private sites. A page's review date is updated when its rules and source links are checked, not simply when wording changes.
How the calculator is checked
We test sample workweeks that include daily overtime, weekly overtime, double time and seventh-day rules. The calculator works best for straightforward hourly pay; bonuses, commissions, multiple pay rates and special industry rules may need extra steps.
