About StateOvertime.com
Learn about our mission to help US workers understand and calculate overtime pay.
Our Mission
StateOvertime.com was created to help American workers understand and calculate their overtime pay accurately. Overtime rules can vary by state, making it confusing to understand what you're owed. Our free calculator makes it simple.
Why We Built This
US workers can lose money when they don't fully understand overtime laws. California has daily overtime rules. Alaska and Nevada have their own daily OT triggers. Federal FLSA rules provide the nationwide starting point. We wanted one tool that handles these variations accurately.
What We Offer
Free overtime calculator with state-specific rules
Federal FLSA compliance for all 50 states
California daily overtime (over 8 hours = 1.5x, over 12 hours = 2x)
Alaska & Nevada daily overtime rules
Employee Rights guide covering hours worked, records, and retaliation
Overtime Pay Guide explaining regular rates, bonuses, and calculations
Who runs State Overtime
State Overtime is independently operated and maintained as a free educational resource for workers. Content is reviewed against current information from the U.S. Department of Labor and official state labor agencies. State Overtime is not affiliated with any government agency, law firm, payroll company, or employer.
How information is reviewed
We compare each state guide with current information from the state labor agency and the U.S. Department of Labor. Pages include their review date and links to the primary government sources used. When a state does not have a general overtime law beyond the federal standard, the page explains that clearly.
